Lapland is something else—one of those heartbreakingly beautiful places that stays with you. There’s a philosophy there called Allemansrätten, meaning “the right to roam”—a belief that everyone should have access to nature’s vast wilderness, from rivers to oceans, forests to mountaintops. You can wander freely, pick mushrooms, swim in crystal-clear lakes, fish, camp under the open sky, and lose yourself in the quiet contemplation of life—as long as you tread lightly and honor the land and those who share it. Amen to that.
@riverhorse_nakadate & @tczech set out in search of of wild salmon, grayling, and trout on the fly in the deep backcountry of the Arctic Circle and connect with a Sami Tribe elder to discuss life as a reindeer herder.
