SA’s Amplitude Smooth Infinity Glow

Finally, a line that will make it just a little bit easier to see where your flies are in the dark, without lighting up the entire river. Glow-in-the-dark lines are nothing new to fly fishing, but in the past, the entire lines would glow, which made them feel gimmicky and certainly less than stealthy. Enter Scientific Angler’s new Amplitude Smooth Infinity – Glow tip line.

Now instead of lighting up your whole line like an airstrip at night, just a section at the head of the line will be lit, making it far easier to pinpoint where your flies are and avoid casting your rig into that overhanging rhododendron bush on the far bank.

Some may say that the glowing line section has the potential to make your casting more conspicuous and spook fish, however, Angling Trade’s Kirk Deeter got his hands on the line and had this to say:

“I’m not a scientist, but I can tell you that I caught a number of rising fish that obviously didn’t seem bothered at all  I think things like the drift, and accuracy, and not lining fish with any colored line, glow or not, matter 100 times more than line color.”

Read the rest of Kirk’s review, here.

We’re looking forward to getting our hands on this line soon, and if you’ve had a chance to try it out, let us know your experience in the comments!

  1. Trout fishing is always a challenge, especially because of their good eye sight of detecting the line.
It’s exciting to see a line nearly invisible in the water.
