The second pattern dedicated to Tarpon Week here at Flylords is created by a name everyone in fly fishing should know by now, Andy Mill. Not only is Andy a phenomenal angler, podcaster, and Olympian, he has also been instrumental in the evolution of tarpon fishing. Whether you follow the Millhouse podcast or not, the likelihood of hearing his name while researching or chasing tarpon is inevitable. What better way to celebrate Tarpon Week than bringing to light one of the many innovations Andy Mill has invented for targeting the silver king, the Millhouse Tarpon Toad.
This variation is different than others due to the rabbit strip collar and EC fiber body. These materials create a sparse profile that is proven to catch tarpon and can be fished in many sizes and colors depending on light level and flavor of the day. My only recommendation is that while you are segmenting the body, take your time and keep the EC fibers thin in diameter to create the proper profile and taper. The Millhouse Tarpon Toad does not discriminate in size of tarpon, and you’ll find that if fished well and often, you may find yourself connected to the king himself.
