After 2 days of blind casting in chest-deep water at tarpon blowing up on bait, my buddy Jake Haselgrove and I knew there had to be a better way. I woke up to a text from Jake saying, “I’m bringing the ladder tomorrow.” Sure enough, the next morning I picked Jake and his ladder up.
After sight casting fish all morning while taking turns on the ladder. Storms rolled in, so I made a quick Home Depot run for a second ladder, and the rest was history.
We had tarpon head butting the ladder and were surrounded by fish all day long. We needed to double up twice, and landed 3 quality tarpon by 5 p.m. with my good friend Cohen there filming it all.
Easily one of the most insane tarpon bites we’ve ever experienced. Safe to say the ladders are coming with us from now on.
