Simms has announced the release of a brand-new wader to their lineup—the Flyweight Packable Wader. Simms is calling this the “lightest, most packable wader” the company has ever built. It’s designed to provide the same tough performance Simms is known for, while easily fitting inside a backpack. The entire wader packs into an integrated stuff sack located in the chest pocket.
Clocking it at 2.45 pounds in a standard Medium, the Flyweight Packable certainly is light. It’s also spent more than a decade in design and prototyping. That shows up in the details of this wader, which retails for a reasonable $379.95.
Simms uses a two and a half layers of waterproof Toray fabric for the upper of this wader, while the lower (everything from the waist down) is the same 4-layer Toray Quadralam fabric used in their Freestone line of waders.

The Flyweight Packable also features a fully-adjustable suspender system that allows you to wear these as waist-high waders instead.
The Flyweight Packable could be a fit for anglers at all skill levels, and in many different situations. In a press release, Simms said:
“While the Flyweight Packable Wader was designed with high-mileage missions in mind, its true value lies in its adaptability. From shoulder season days when it’s too cold to wet wade and too warm for a heavier setup, to overseas travel with limited packing space — this wader is built to keep up the pace.”
