Redington Drops Predator SALT Fly Rods

Redington has dropped a new line of fly rods geared towards saltwater anglers. They’ve reimagined their previously successful Predator lineup of rods specifically for the demands of saltwater fly fishing. The Predator SALT rods are available in weights 6 through 14, in lengths from 8’6″ to 9′.

The Predator SALT retails for $399, bringing top saltwater performance to a relatively affordable price point.

Of particular note is that Redington already has a replacement tip for the SALT listed on their website. This means anglers won’t need to send in their broken rods for tip replacements, which lessens the time the rods spend in repair shops.

The Predator SALT is built from the same new graphite technology Redington introduced in their EDC lineup earlier this year. Time will tell how effective the Predator SALT is out on the water, but in the interim, this is an interesting rod offering from a company with a solid reputation.

Redington describes the action of the Predator SALT as “fast” but still “deep-loading.” All rods feature a full-wells cork handle with rubberized end caps, chrome-plated guides, and an anodized aluminum reel seat.

The rod is available now at your local Redington dealer or online.
