Stio Hylas Hooded Pullover

Flylords: Can you tell us a little about what fishing means to the Stio brand?

Stio: Here at Stio we live the mountain life and it inspires everything we create. Jackson Hole is a world-renowned fly fishing location and there are many people on our team who take full advantage of this. Our on-water styles are designed and tested to meet the demands of long days on the river.

Stio Men’s Eddy SS and Stio Men’s CFS Board Pant

Flylords: I feel like a lot of people see Stio as a winter ski brand – can you tell us about some of your favorite warm-weather products this spring?

Stio: Over the past eight years Stio has evolved from being primarily focused on technical ski outerwear and insulation to offering a diverse line of products to cover the full range of the mountain life. A couple of our favorite warm-weather collections for spring and summer include the CFS Line, a highly durable, quick-drying program that withstands the rigors of the river, the Hylas Line, a lightweight, stretch program that offers supreme comfort and UPF 50+ sun protection, and of course, our classic Eddy Collection.

Flylords: Being based in J-hole, what is your favorite local fishery?

Stio: There are so many options within a short drive of Jackson, but a local favorite is Flat Creek just a couple miles from downtown. It’s on the edge of the Elk Refuge and requires some ninja fishing skills, but the payoff is big cuttys!

Flylords: What goes into the development of Stio’s fishing apparel?

Stio: No matter the season, our product development team is always focused on delivering the most thoughtful details and features for every style. Careful consideration goes into the placement of each pocket, zipper or stitch. The end goal is to develop products that people want to wear for each of their mountain town pursuits that seamlessly integrate into their wardrobe.

Stio Men’s Eddy Drift

Flylords: Can you tell us about your favorite fishing item in this year’s lineup?

Stio: The Men’s Eddy Drift Shirt is definitely one of our favorites. It is a spin-off of our bestselling wind-and water-resistant snap shirt that’s hooked up with premium fishing-friendly features to give you on-water performance with town-worthy style. Beyond the Eddy Drift, our Hylas collection is a go-to for fishing. Quick-drying and breathable Helion™ stretchy UPF 50+ fabric protects from high alpine rays, while a variety of silhouettes means you can customize your kit.

Stio Women’s Hometown Down Hooded Jacket

Flylords: We just sent Shyanne down to Argentina with some of your new Spring Lineup – it seems like Stio is working hard to build great fishing apparel for female anglers as well as male anglers – do you see female anglers as a strong demographic for the Stio brand?

Stio: We love working with Shyanne and admire that she’s a female fly fishing guide working to get more women and kids into the sport. Our women’s line is designed and tested by women in Jackson Hole, so we value all outdoorswomen, from skiers to anglers, who shape our product development.

Flylords: Anything else exciting on the horizon for this year?

Stio: One product that we’re really excited to introduce this spring is our new Hideout Short. The Hideouts are not designed specifically for fly fishing, but are do-it-all, durable shorts that you will want to wear for any activity.
