Montrose, Colorado (August 29, 2025) — Ross Reels is proud to announce the release of the Machinist Edition, a limited-edition reel designed as a tribute to the skilled hands and processes behind every Ross Reels product.

Machined, hand-finished, anodized, and assembled in Montrose, Colorado, the Machinist Edition is finished in Native Metal, a clear anodized treatment that leaves the reel in its rawest form. Tool paths, machining marks, and visible details are revealed, offering anglers a rare glimpse into the reel’s journey from puck of aluminum to a finished reel that carries the Ross legacy. While it showcases a different aesthetic, the Machinist Edition is built to the same uncompromising standards of quality, durability, and performance that define every reel in the Ross Reels lineup.

“Every Ross reel begins with the people that bring them to life,” said Jeff Wagner, President & CEO of Mayfly Outdoors. “The Machinist Edition honors that story, putting the process and the people who make it possible front and center. It’s as much about the craftsmanship as it is about the reel itself.”

The Machinist Edition is built on the classic Ross Cimarron 5/6, pairing a clear-anodized frame and spool with a textured drag knob built for durability against drops and dings. A hand-anodized navy blue drag knob and black reel foot, paired with a black handle, highlight the craftsmanship behind every detail. This limited finish celebrates the process as much as the product.

Each Machinist Edition reel ships with a signed insert from the Ross Machinists themselves—a personal note from the hands that guided the aluminum from raw stock to finished reel. Every signature is handwritten, making each reel not only a piece of fishing equipment, but also a tangible connection to the people who build it in Montrose, Colorado.

This limited finish is more than a reel—it’s a recognition of the Machinists, Engineers, and people who shape every Ross Reels product.
