Skwala and Fishpond, two of the biggest manufacturers in fly fishing, have teamed up with Cutbank Production House to produce a brand-new film, ‘The Duranglers.’
The film chronicles the history of one of fly fishing’s most important fly shops – Duranglers, in Durango, Colorado.
Before 1983, Durango didn’t have a fly shop at all. That year, John Flick and Tom Knopick opened Duranglers on a shoestring, tying their own flies and building their own rods out of a basement. Forty-three years later, it’s one of the most influential fly shops in the country — a place that’s shaped how brands develop and test product and how shops build community around their customers.
The film is a great look at what it really takes to succeed in this business.
