Reel of the Week: The Most Realistic Fly Ever

A Note from @thenexteddy:

“We host an Iron Fly event every year here in Salida, CO. The event was started by a group called Pig Farm Ink, playing off of Iron Chef. Contestants are given random materials to tie with or asked to tie blind folded, etc.

This fly was tied by Ryan Short. Ryan works a few days in the shop. This fly is a product of the round where contestants had to procure one material to tie with from the bar or surrounding streets and alley. “I know I like drinking Banquet so I thought the trout would too” Ryan has been determined ever since to catch a trout on this fly.

It has yet to happen but the sheer ridiculousness of the fly and the task at hand just got the best of him. Plus it’s hopper season here in the high country, those little buggers are everywhere. Ryan is convinced he will eventually get a trout to eat this ridiculous fly.”
