There is one time in the season when you can get away with throwing ridiculously large dry flies at trout in New Zealand!! In the height of summer, if it’s a good Cicada year, some fish will lose their heads and smash big terrestrial patterns without hesitation. A bit like sex….it doesn’t last for long but it sure is fun while it does!
