“I knew the fish lived in that hole, I had lost the fish last spring. I then tried for it again this past winter and moved the fish on a streamer, but the fish didn’t commit. I had gone through there one or two other times fishing for it and failed, but finally got lucky this spring. And of course the eat was one of the most insane streamer eats of all time! So there was a pretty long history with the fish.”

Tripp started his fly fishing career when he founded the Appalachian State Fly Fishing Club. He then went on to work at 828 Flies in Seven Devils, NC, where he still guides to this day.
