A Note from Ben Bruce (@benbrucetro):
“Every year our trout unlimited chapter helps stock the DH section of the Upper Toccoa. The do the bucket line to bring fish down to the river. However they can’t get close to the river in most of the DH. So they ask guides to come help with their boats or rafts. In recent years it’s been me and maybe one other boat. We used coolers and buckets to float them down river. However the fish won’t last long cause they will suffocate each other with that many of them in such a small space.
So this year I had been messing with a few ideas and then I remembered something. my raft is a self bailing boat. Let’s just put them in the boat! Took the floor out. Filled with water and it worked! We were able to transport a few hundred fish at a time. The goal was to spread them out. Give anglers a chance at fish all up and down the river. We’ve had a lot of folks come into the shop saying great things about the fishing. That the fish were everywhere and fishing was awesome.
