Fly Fishing Collaborative Launches Online Auction to Combat Poverty and Trafficking

Fly Fishing Collaborative (FFC) is an Oregon-based nonprofit with a big goal: to mobilize the fly fishing community and combat poverty and trafficking worldwide. FFC achieves this through aquaponic farms, a combination of aquaculture and hydroponics (raising plants without soil). By creating farms and communities in underprivileged areas, FFC establishes a sustainable income, bolsters local economies, and negates the effects of trafficking.

Aquaponic farms like this create food, and income for underprivileged communities.

This year marks the 10-year anniversary of this incredible organization—no small feat for a grassroots organization. Their work has reached across the world, including Kenya, Thailand, Peru, and Belize, to name a few places. This year, FFC is building an aquaponics farm in its own backyard in central Oregon. The Warm Springs Indian Reservation, positioned on the legendary Deschutes River, will be getting its own farm, creating a sustainable source of food and income.

Now is your chance to help the cause. FFC has launched its online auction with the help of some incredible sponsors. Prizes include fishing trips, fly fishing gear, local business experiences, and much more. Proceeds from the auction go directly to Fly Fishing Collaborative, helping further their mission and expand aquaponics projects into new locations. The auction runs until March 1st, when their annual banquet will be held in Portland, Oregon, featuring a silent auction to raise additional funds for FFC projects.
