When you work at a fly shop, you hear it all. “I once caught a 40’’ laker and when I took my phone out it flopped.” “I hooked a trout so big it was towing my boat around the lake.” “I broke off a carp the size of a VW bug…” You get the idea.

One day at Anglers All fly shop a chat about angling opportunities during spring runoff season popped off over a few cold ones during happy hour. As the conversation evolved, shop employees started dreaming up the potential for a multi-species fly fishing only tournament–an event that would bring much needed shine to some underrated fish in Colorado such as bass, carp and the lesser known trout species. In a country where Largemouth Bass fishing is king, 25 On The Fly aims to immortalize fly fishing and show the conventional world that flies can fool bass, as well as other species effectively.

In the Spring of 2016 Anglers All hosted the first species focused fly fishing tournament and every year the event has grown in reach and popularity. Fast forward 5 years and the crew behind the popular Mile High 25 has branched out into a series of events across the country under the alias “25 ON THE FLY.”

This year, 25 On The Fly is just around the corner, and if it interests you to ditch your local water and compete to catch a number of species you’ve never thought about targeting, now is your time.

Team Flylords 25 On The Fly Competition Recap

2023 Official Results from the 8th Annual Mile High 25 On The Fly

Nelson Oxley
I’m originally from Tabernash, Colorado, and my passion for fishing started early, influenced by my grandfather, who managed Nelson’s Fly Shop. As soon as I got my driver’s license, I began guiding, and now I’m in my seventh year of doing so. I am a Account Manager at Flylords. I work with various brands in the industry to grow their digital marketing presence and run campaigns to increase their product and brand visibility. One thing I love about Flylords is the passion that goes into our work; everyone is deeply involved in what we strive to create. My favorite types of fishing are casting dry flies from a drift boat and stalking flats species from a skiff!
