A Note From Blaede Russell (@blaede_russell):

“In 2024 I led an exploratory trip into the red Sea in the hope of finding a viable fishery were few had ventured before.

With a group of close friends, we set out to explore uncharted waters, knowing that true understanding comes only from firsthand experience.

Despite years of studying maps, marine charts, and speaking with various individuals, we still felt fairly unprepared for what lay ahead.

The first five days tested our endurance—temperatures soared to 44°C with stifling humidity, conditions that drive fish off the flats. Yet, we encountered something remarkable. Finding fish during such unfavorable conditions was an encouraging sign that the potential during temperate months could be extraordinary.

Landing that grouper was a humbling reminder of how persistence and timing can align perfectly and what the possibilities could be!

The water, impossibly clear, revealed an underwater world teeming with life. It’s an experience that will forever stand as one of the most profound moments of my life and one that should be experienced by all…” Blaede Russell
