Part of the Brush Creek Ranch Collection, French Creek Sportsmen’s Club sits on 15,000 acres of sporting paradise on the legendary Sanger Ranch property. Whether solo or with a group, at any given time, a maximum of 12 guests will have exclusive access to the ultra-secluded Sportsmen’s Club with four private luxury log cabins and “man cave’” Clubhouse perched on French Creek, enjoying access to its breathtaking environment and to the notable sporting experiences it affords in the American West.

When we arrived at the property our first thoughts were, wow this is small, but not in a bad way, in an intimate way. It essentially felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. Shortly after our arrival, we met the head chef at French Creek, Chef Guzman, who was preparing dinner for our late arrival. We sat at a long beautiful dining room table which stands in front of the open kitchen – this was probably one of our favorite parts. French Creek staff members talked to us about our itinerary as we were served our first dish, a carrot and coconut soup that was to die for. Next came the local vegetables from Brush Creek’s greenhouse, followed by one of the most insane tomahawk steaks we had ever seen. We’ve been to a lot of high-end lodges, but I think this might top our list for best food…

In the morning we met with our guides, Mike and Adam, two veteran guides who have guiding in Wyoming for over a decade. We head to some local water to try and find some hatching Green Drakes. We followed some incredible dry fly fishing with a float down a tributary of the North Platte River throwing streamers at hungry fish.

Back at the lodge we test out the gun range, shooting handguns, and a sniper rifle at a target that sits 500 yards in the distance! After the gun range, we enjoy a wine tasting with the other guests at the lodge and another insanely good meal.

Our final day of fishing we spend some time on the local creek that sits directly outside of our cabin. After a full day of hiking and wade fishing this small creek we hooked into the largest brown trout we’ve ever seen in person. A true 26 inch, 8-pound monster! And only a few hundred feet downstream from where we were sleeping…

With only three nights and two days of fishing, we had a great taste for what French Creek Sportsmen’s Club offers, incredible fishing, incredible hospitality, and other bonuses like a shooting range and a man cave with a fully inclusive bar and pool table. This place will definitely sit high on our list for western trout experiences, and we hope to make it back someday!
